We have it , but its very rudimentary. It would be nice to have a ladder with more rungs so people feel empowered to grow.

We’ve had it for decades. We seem to revisit it about every 5-6 years. In general people realize the best odds to maximize pay are leadership roles not the technical ladder. It has improved the morale and pay of key technical employees but is not an equivalent ladder and for a general industrial company it probably should not. If we were Apple, Oracle, Microsoft maybe the ladders would be closer to equal
