It has been very useful to me. I’d found for the last 10 years some jobs. Also, with it I’d found some vendors that I wouldn’t find googling. And I’d discovered new stuff as well.
The bad stuff that I’d discovered is that some polls and content is deviated from LinkedIn purpose. Those content could be in other social networks than LinkedIn.
It was more useful years ago. In the last year it has declined significantly due to increasing volume of Facebook type posts. I still use it but it’s content and value are getting diluted
Completely agree. It's a mixture of personal branding/seeking greater engagement/being "authentic," and yes, we can blame LinkedIn's algorithm to some extent.
I find it the feed very helpful for leadership, personal growth, and corporate reinvention information. It's useful to find varied opinions, tips, and perspectives on these topics. Of course, you have to tailor the feed somewhat to fine tune the information that you want - but overall it's quite good.
I also appreciate the (for the most part) balanced and nuanced commentary on the different posts. We dont always agree, but we can always be kind.
I actually don't like the fact that I keep seeing 2nd degree posts just because people commented or liked it. And there is no way to remove that. I even had to block some "influencers" that were basically monopolizing my timeline with incredible videos stolen from institutions like World Economic Forum. I think Linkedin should block this kind of content. If someone likes a video from WE or cheddar, they can share the original post, not find a way to download and re-upload it.
I am a huge fan of linked in for good content, following the right people / businesses is key.
Linked in does need to better control some
of the personal stuff that has crept into the platform.
