How do you approach mobility conversations in your organization?  We are looking to discuss high potential mobility candidates in the new year and I'm looking for a template of sorts to help aid the conversations.

When approaching mobility conversations in your organisation, you can use templates to aid the discussions. These templates can help guide conversations with employees, including high-potential candidates.

For example, People Manager Conversation Template to navigate discussions with employees who have not been selected for a high-potential program

Additionally, a Mobility Plan Template can be used to document mobility placement details and encourage conversations between home and host managers

By utilising such templates, you can ensure that important aspects of the mobility process are covered during the conversations.

I am happy to share my template. Connect / message me.

Hi Ingrid, We are developing something similar right now. We base our mobility conversations off of our global succession planning process, focusing in on High potential leadership talent. Happy to connect and discuss if you like!

No template with my company either, have an open and frank conversation and manage expectations. Before you have this discussion make sure the policy and support around it is in place, think about dual careers, children's school, pets, mortgages, family circumstances etc etc. People tend to be mobile but when rubber hits the road mutual expectations can't always be met...

We have always just done it directly --no template per se (other than to capture information) --ask if someone is open to relocation and if so, what regions of country or internationally, any specific things to be true (kids have to be through high school etc.) and then reinforce if something comes up do they want to have visibility even if timing/objectives are not completely 100% aligned so they have the opportunity to turn down v. assume not interested.
