The key factors for success in transformation initiatives is to take risks, fail quick and move on to a new idea. If the transformation team is not empowered to follow this path, they will not be able to try several new ideas to find the best path forward in a timely manner.

Teams must be able to address issues and make decisions unencumbered by bureaucracy.  If they can't do what they need, the work will be incomplete or significantly delayed. Empowerment also opens the channels for creative solutions and true innovation to happen.

Organizational initiatives will take a long time to complete because teams that are not empowered cannot make key decisions.   Support and adoption for the outcomes of these initiatives will never succeed because these teams do not own these decisions.

Transformation initiatives can be impeded by the lack of a team empowerment if team members feel that they are not able to contribute to the initiative or that their voices are not being heard. This can lead to frustration and a feeling of powerless, which can eventually lead to team members feeling disengaged and demotivated.
