If I had to pick one trend besides AI, I’d bet on the CIO role becoming much more centered on business strategy and cross-team alignment. CIOs will be expected to deeply understand revenue, customer experience, and operations, not just technology, and translate those needs into scalable systems. The role is moving from “technology leader” to “business enabler,” with a strong focus on integration, resilience, and long-term value.
