Do you know of a tool to manage and track ownership of digital resources? We often have trouble finding which org, dept, or individual owns a resource. By digital assets, I’m speaking of all the following: Domains, Databases, Applications, Software, Virtual Machines.

Servicenow would address the tracking ownership of domains, database and application. Software (packages, versions, etc) and VMs shall be tracked with Service now with combination of custom solution for better user experience in visualizing the upcoming software expiration, usage, cost, etc.
We use a tool called Enterprise 1 to track many of our digital assets. Including databases, applications, software and VM. Domains are closer to APIs and for that we use MuleSoft. We also have cloud resources that we need to track - e.g. containers, services, etc. What we are moving towards is ensuring that all assets are tagged with key metadata such as what you describe - org, dept, individual, etc.
Once the assets are tagged, we are ingesting the metadata into a central repo where it can be queried. An alternative we are considering is using AI engines to integrate with source systems and enable agentic support to get at this data more easily. Both approaches are proving challenging.
Service Now Cloud will help you achieve these results. It has the capability to track a digital resource and assign an responsible ORG to that.
ServiceNow (SNOW)can track and manage digital assets ownership via its Asset Management Module. The SNOW Configuration Management Database acts as the central repository where all the assets info is stores including ownership . Ivanti is another option. I hope this helps.
