Since ChatGPT was released, very few times I've used a traditional search engine such as Google, this is because I got frustrated when I used a search engine, having to read many pages seeking a specific answer that most of the time wouldn't suffice.
I would use it though, if the answer provided by the AI is slim or I would like to search for a video.
I turn to AI over search engines when I need quick, synthesized insights tailored to my work. It’s my go-to for deep analysis, context-specific answers, brainstorming, technical guidance, and drafting content. For quick ideas, exploring trends, or structuring information, AI saves me time. I still use search engines when I need the latest data or specific news, but for anything that benefits from integrated knowledge, AI is my first choice.
AI is an invaluable tool, especially for businesses, as it reduces reliance on technology teams for quick insights and data-driven decisions. It can leverage natural language processing (NLP) to execute complex queries and deliver results in the desired format. Additionally, AI saves time by summarizing information, reviewing drafts, and ensuring that search results are targeted to user queries, complete with data sources for reference.
I'm still figuring this out for myself but I tend to use ChatGPT for complex write-ups or explanations to help support a memo or explanation around an issue whereas I have found Google AI daily useful for shorter, simpler items. However, still exploring.....
