We are 14000 employee company in India and in the manufacturing business. We would like to migrate from private cloud to hyperscaler. What is the best hyperscaler available? What should be the strategy of migration? Which are the migration partners operating in India?

I recommend a multi cloud or hybrid cloud strategy here.

Conduct a POC with multiple public cloud providers and evaluate SaaS and PaaS.. Incase if you are looking to lift and shift VM’s as-is to cloud, evaluate few applications with multiple cloud vendors.

In India, there are quite a few hyperscalers, namely AWS, Azure, Google, Oracle, and IBM. Each of these providers offers a range of cloud services, and it is necessary to conduct a study to determine which one is best suited in terms of business requirements, compliance, availability, customer centricity, and pricing.

 

The choice of strategy will depend on the application mix and should be evaluated for each specific application. The following options can be explored:

 

1.     Lift and shift: Moving applications to the cloud as is

2.     Re-platforming: Making modifications to the application to leverage the advantages of the cloud.

3.     Retiring: Applications planned for retirement can be excluded from the migration process.

4.     New Development on cloud: Developing new applications directly on the cloud platform.

5.     Re-licensing: Transitioning from on-premises licensing to cloud-based licensing for licensed products.

 

There are numerous IT vendors in India who can assist with this process. It is recommended to connect with them and obtain quotes or follow the procurement process mandated by your organization.

I agree with all.. It is very difficult to decide on one of the three.. AWS, Azure & GCP.. It will depend on the long term roadmap.. Technically, all are providing more or less same features.. If u have many business applications which are on MS platform then it makes sense to go to Azure.. If u have a lot of end-customer / geo location centric data then GCP can be better choice as they offer a lot of services which are natively integrated. The Partner eco-system for AWS is good.. For GCP, it has come up.. From naufacturing perspective, they all have good features available. 

Cloud is the way forward for enterprise, i would first move all employee services like messaging,collaboration, document sharing to Cloud, that's big part of employee requirement.
Application needs to evaluated based on business, core apps for manufacturing which needs low latency to be closed to the machines preferred in local data center, rest of it can be moved to cloud. Hyperscaler most cloud vendors provide the best of services, preference is based business needs application integration and important is Cost.
