There are multiple levels of planning: Long-range planning - a span of 3 years, level of abstraction is high. Medium range planning - a span of 1 year, level of abstraction is medium to low. Near range planning - a span of a quarter, the level of detail is extremely high.
Having said that lot of factors and nuances contribute to different levels. As we Near range is more clear and have a higher degree of predictability and delivery.
So, there is always a ruthless prioritization that plays role in demystifying the near-range plan, We always have more items than we can chew. What makes the Topline impact, as well as the bottom line impact, wins in the end.
So, while we have higher level guidance at 3 or 1-year level, the real work of the work is done quarter by quarter.
We typically set a high leave budget at the start of the year and then reevaluate the plan each quarter. There are opportunities to add to the budget each quarter however we usually need to create our own efficiency if we are adding to the budget that was set at the beginning of the year.
Process is the same but the location changed.
Identifying what is truly priority in pushing the growth of the company forward and from their providing roadmaps and plans for tracking milestones of moving those prioritized initiatives forward. We also have weekly check ins on progress in key areas as well as identifying any shifts in priorities.
We don't do much in terms of annual planning, we're more of a continuous planning shop. Budgets get done early in the year, but are adjusted a couple of times during the year. We don't have a huge amount of change year to year, so our projects are fairly long running.
