As technology evolves at the speed of light, it is absolutely crucial to gain continuous education, not just on new technologies emerging in the market but also evolving processes and architectures to support the modern enterprise. By not keeping yourself abreast of the changing landscape and your mind open to new ways of implementing technology, you not only drag the team down but also stem the growth of the enterprise. More often than not, I have seen "industry experts" being hired into positions that want to do something in exactly the same way as they have been doing for the last 10 years because it was successful.
Keeping an open mind and learning new ways of doing things is absolutely critical.
