Transformation initiatives can involve a great deal of resources - people, processes, services, vendors, customers, etc. The more people that are involved the more complex the route will be to success. Prioritization is people-led and is the greatest focus anyone in the business can have to allow tasks to be handled appropriately with clear goals in sight. When that doesn't happen and prioritization fails not only will your transformation initiatives will fail but other areas will also fail.

Prioritizing, simply stated, is the most important component to any success in business. Reinventing and spinning wheels will certainly lead to the demise of a business right up there with having to constantly train new employees, losing and having to acquire new customers and following regulation after regulation that inhibit business.

If an organization does not prioritize tasks, projects, and initiatives it can have disastrous consequences.  One needs to plan and prioritize for: budget forecasting and planning, staffing, putting supports in place, and the overall success of the organization.  Plan the work and work the plan. Everyone needs to be on the same page and growing in the same direction, significantly if the organization is transforming, but also even if it is maintaining its success and direction.

Lack of prioritization is very harmful, because for transformation success is mandatory to focus
on right and most important initiatives first. Lack of prioritization has as  consequence to deal with too much or not so important initiatives so outcome result is poor, motivation is bad and we are not achieving our strategic goals.

Prioritization is a key parameter to overall success of planning a project or an initiative. There would be number of items on the plate to take care when one starts with a new initiative, especially the transformation one. All cant be done in one go and so prioritizing and organizing is very important. In case of lack of prioritization or if not prioritized correctly, it would lead to the initiative being stretched over-time then planned along with some re-work throughout the cycle of the transformation. This will add more efforts, more costs, less ROI and maybe some frustration towards the fag end for a clean completion.
