The best approach is to identify your goals not based on upgrading an ERP system but on getting specific benefits it unlocks to your customers, and that outs your business goals in the fast lane. This is based on my experience digitizing supply chains for Home Depot Depot, Kroger, and Whole Foods, as well as consolidating these systems to adopt a homegrown system where applicable.
