What are the types of insights or discussions that are best to just get from peers virtually or digitally, without having to meet face-to-face? Are there topics or discussions that you feel like you just have to prioritize having in-person?

I believe most empathetic issues can be cared for my using cameras if the worker remote. However I also believe that some extreme cases should be handled in person if at all possible like demotions or terminations. Having said that, video creates a way to read the employee and react accordingly, so empathy and respect can be shown.

I have found that it’s not a particular subject or topic that defines the type of interaction but rather the intent of the discussion. If the intent is general information sharing which can easily be captured and shared via digital materials or screen sharing (ex. demo of an app), then in-person vs virtual hasn’t made a difference. However, if the intent is solutioning, whiteboarding, idea generation, or developing a roadmap then in-person is best as it allows for (and forces) greater engagement.

The best insights are those that deal with immediate issues or news items that a "flash" sentiment of the community would be of great value such as perspectives on the NVIDIA announcement of their Blackwell Platform. Secondly are in areas that can be answered quickly and not require a face to face such as % of IT budget to be allocated to GEN-AI initiatives. F2F would be less tangible but still analytical such as thoughts on the direction of AI/RPA computing and the effect on various industries over the next 5 years
