It really depends on 2 factors:
- What is the footprint of the application?
- Do you need to replace it?

Terminating a contract without replacing the application or migrating the data elsewhere is quite straightforward.   But it rarely happens.   You either need the data back because you already have a replacement solution OR you need to find a replacement solution and it could take a while. 

As Chris said, it could take years of planning in some cases.

In general a few months but if it were SalesForce or Other large footprint apps it would be years
