What are some common reporting structures for a CFO of a small-medium tech company? Curious to understand the way functions/teams are organized within Finance and what roles typically report directly to the CFO?

In addition to what others have mentioned, I would add Investor Relations and M&A could also report into finance.

I've also worked in a few companies in which Information Technology reports into finance.  The challenge I've seen with IT reporting in lies primarily with cybersecurity and the CISO.  Those individuals have shared that they believe the best structure is for CISO to have a direct line into the CEO & BOD. Reporting into the CIO, then into the CFO, makes them feel too far removed.
