In the USA legally the company can do whatever it wants. While I would not want to be forced back into the office I believe in full open market capitalism. People need to vote with their feet. If you don’t like what the company is doing then leave. If they are paying you enough to make you decide to commute to the office every day, then choose to commute. I personally prefer the freedom and would prefer to have remote work options. However there is a pay and benefits rate where I would gladly commute. Make me an offer. 😎
